Testimonials

We feel like we won the lottery when we found Sarah-Grace. She is open, generous, knowledgable and strong— and we will always be grateful for the way she guided us through the birth of our first kid. We loved how she talked when we interviewed her, how she had come to learn that there is no one right way to birth. We loved how she offered online prenatal yoga classes I could cue up or tune into. We loved how she came to our home and talked, prepped, planned and visioned together in our prenatal sessions.

When I had started to progress, but the baby was slow to come, and it became clear that I would likely go in for a medical induction, she came to our house again, and I felt like she gave us the gift of that early labor at home with her that I had hoped to have. When she showed up in the hospital a few days later, her presence marked the beginning of the beautiful descent into active labor. She laughed with us and gently offered ways I could move to keep things humming or make me more comfortable. When my husband and I were locked in tight in the final hours of labor, and the midwife was bringing our baby earthside, Sarah-Grace told me how strong I was. I didn’t realize it at the time, but she was also taking pictures that now mean the world to us.

She came to our house a few days later, this time bringing nipple shields for me, and holding our baby in her arms. I have tears in my eyes as I write this, four months postpartum. The way Sarah-Grace showed up for us continues to support my family. She is an unstoppable doula and care worker and human.

Is it weird to say that I cannot imagine our birth experience without Sarah-Grace? Sarah-Grace is that kind of unicorn person who is exceptionally competent and brilliant, yet also fun and funny and someone you want to be around. At the hospital when I was in active labor, Sarah-Grace arrived at 2am, she instantly set the tone, anointed the sterile space with oils, dimming lights, and her easy familial energy. Throughout the night she was calm and decisive, she stepped up and stepped back in the right moments, she answered our millions of questions, reassured us, helped us advocate when we needed to, and helped us laugh and find silliness amidst the chaos and pain of labor. When the baby’s heart rate dropped unexpectedly, she quickly helped me change positions and had an innate understanding of what was going on medically, always one step ahead of the doctor and nurses. We felt so supported by her and even when things were scary, we felt safe with Sarah-Grace by our side. After the baby was born, I was so happy she was there to guide us in postpartum care and nursing.

Leading up to the due date, Sarah-Grace (and Beth) were in close touch with us, responded quickly to all of our questions and concerns, checked in regularly, and made me feel really tended to. They had endless knowledge and many many resources, which they generously shared. They encouraged us to make a birth plan and decisions that worked for us - there was never any pressure to do things a certain way.

Throughout our entire time working with Sarah-Grace (and Beth) we felt seen. We are a queer couple and my partner is a genderqueer trans-person; Sarah-Grace’s ease with my partner’s gender identity helped soothe their additional fears as the non-birthing parent. We hold Sarah-Grace in the highest esteem. She is a one-of-a-kind almost other-worldly doula and person. We are forever grateful to know her and to have had her as our doula to welcome our sweet baby into this world.
— Dani G.L.
I was initally unconvinced we needed a doula, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. If you’re at all on the fence, DO IT—and hire Sarah-Grace. It was the best decision I made for my pregnancy.

When we were interviewing doulas, I was adamant we find someone who wasn’t overly woo-woo; I just wanted someone who could educate me, help me make decisions about my healthcare, and be my advocate during delivery. Sarah-Grace was exactly who I was looking for—she’s super down to earth, knowledgable, and just an overall lovely person. She always laid out all my options in the most thorough, non-judgemental way, and was eager to involve my husband in the process, which was crucial for me.

I ended up having to be induced and was terrified going into it, but felt so much calmer and positive once Sarah-Grace arrived. I was planning to wait as long as I could to get an epidural but wasn’t convinced I’d be able to do it, especially with an induction, but she guided me through a bunch of different positions and breathing techniques and I didn’t end up getting one until I was 6 cm dialted. My active labor stage lasted almost 11 hours so I was up against a C-section and feeling very defeated, but again Sarah-Grace talked me through a bunch of different positions to get the baby to move down and ultimately I was able to deliver naturally—I don’t think that would’ve happened without her help.

Perhaps more helpful than anything was her postpartum visit. It was just so reassuring to have her come over and tell us we were doing fine and answer all our millions of questions. She also put together a bunch of my pumping equipment/baby stuff and showed us how to use it all so we didn’t have to spend time reading instruction manuals. Don’t cheat yourself out of this invaluable help; Sarah-Grace will make your pregnancy/delivery so much less stressful, and maybe even enjoyable!

There are many reasons why I recommend working with Sarah-Grace as your birth doula, but one of them is that you will have the rare and joyful privilege of witnessing someone who is doing what she was born to do; living out her purpose with her whole self. If that’s not the kind of energy you want next to you while giving birth, I don’t know what is!

My labor progressed unexpectedly quickly. It was intense, and there are bits of it that are hazy in my memory, but Sarah-Grace helped me to stay as present as possible. Some of my clearest memories are of hearing her voice repeating helpful words through each contraction. When it came time to push, everyone was suddenly yelling and the midwifes and nurses were giving me instructions that felt confusing and difficult. Sarah-Grace calmly shared words and imagery that immediately “clicked” for me, and helped me to dig in and to feel powerful in my body in the moment I most needed to.

When Sarah-Grace left the hospital, I turned to my husband and said, “I don’t think I could have done that without her... Actually, I could have, but I’m really, really glad that I didn’t.”

Her postpartum visit was incredibly helpful and comforting. Especially since no one else was able to visit us due to COVID. She was also incredibly generous with her time and communication, checking in frequently during those first few weeks when everything can be overwhelming. She gave me the nudge I needed to get my baby evaluated for a tongue tie, which ended up being crucial in setting us up to be able to exclusively breastfeed.

Sarah-Grace is a talented, compassionate and exceedingly competent doula. I highly recommend having her in your corner during your pregnancy, birth and postpartum period.
— Anne L.
Having Sarah-Grace as our doula was one of the best decisions I have ever made. She is supportive, kind, knowledgeable, and a calming presence through the whole experience. I could go on and on, but I get too teary eyed. She is amazing and forever will be part of the family.
— Deb P.
I loved working with Sarah-Grace for the birth of my second child. It was a completely different experience from my first birth, and her support and guidance were so helpful for me and my partner. She has deep knowledge not only about childbirth and women’s bodies, but also how area hospitals and labor and delivery departments work. That knowledge, combined with her sense of humor and steadying presence were so valuable. She was also a wonderful presence leading up to the birth and continues to check in and be supportive in the postpartum phase.
— Valerie L.
We could not be happier with our choice to hire Sarah-Grace. I sought out to have an unmedicated birth in a hospital environment and, even when thrown some curve balls, was able to achieve this because of Sarah-Grace.

First, Sarah-Grace is incredibly smart and informed. She was able to answer every question we had throughout the pregnancy, citing the latest scientific studies and an abundance of experiences from her and her colleagues past births. Also, in the hospital, Sarah-Grace knew exactly how to speak to doctors and nurses in medical terms and was able to influence them to help me achieve my goals. Second, Sarah-Grace is a powerful soother. Her touch, voice, the affirmations she wrote and hung on the walls just when I needed them. She is EXACTLY who you want with you at your birth. She put me and my husband at ease and enabled us to think clearly and focus on the birth of our daughter. The last thing I’ll say is that Sarah-Grace is fun! Birthing can feel scary, but Sarah-Grace seamlessly lightens the mood. My husband and I shared a lot of laughs with Sarah-Grace before, during and after the birth our of our daughter. We loved her so much, we hired her for weeks of additional postpartum sessions (she’s also amazing with babies!). I could go on raving about her, I really could not recommend Sarah-Grace more highly.
— Katie D.
Let me first say, I would hire Sarah-Grace and Beth a million times over if I could. Their support during my pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum period was a serious lifeline for my husband and I. During my pregnancy they both helped me to navigate a sudden shift in my birth plan due to unforeseen events and even helped me come up with an alternative plan. I don’t think I could have handled that sudden shift in mindset without their support. They helped me to make feel empowered in my decision making even when I felt very limited in my options.

During my actual birth, Sarah-Grace kept in contact with my husband and I as early labor started and came as soon as we needed more support. Sarah-Grace grounded me through my labor, supported my husband and I in communicating with the hospital staff and helped me to find my strength. After our baby was born Sarah-Grace continually checked in and came to visit us just two days postpartum. The immediate postpartum period for us was so intense for us and I truly don’t know what we would’ve done without Sarah-Grace during this time. She was able to problem solve breastfeeding issues, listened to our fears and concerns, and gave us concrete solutions for some of the things we were facing. Looking back, my husband and I cannot stop talking about how instrumental Sarah-Grace was during our birth and postpartum period and how lucky we were to find such an amazing doula. P.S. Sarah-Grace’s prenatal yoga class and Beth’s childbirth education class are the bomb dot com.
— Camille T.
I hired Sarah Grace and her doula partner Beth to be my doulas for my second pregnancy. I didn’t have a doula for my firstborn who was born overseas but I felt especially in New York where hospital births seem to be a little quicker to escalate to interventions it would be important to have someone I knew would be on my team and advocate for me no matter what during the entire journey, to have a lot of tools up their sleeves to use during labor, and to ultimately help me have a better experience than the last time.

During the pregnancy I would often write SG and Beth when I needed a second opinion after a midwife appointment, if I felt unsure or confused about something and they were excellent at giving me advice on the questions to ask them at the next appointment as well as unbiased data so I could make truly informed decisions. This was really important to me given that I was trying to (if I could) avoid a lot of the things I got coerced into during my first pregnancy simply because I didn’t know any better.

When I went into labor I was confident SG knew exactly what was important to me. Her presence during labor was warm and comforting and it felt great knowing I had someone in addition to my partner to give me the support I needed emotionally and physically. I had a 26 hour labor and SG was great at suggesting all different positions (even with an epidural) to encourage baby downward, using soothing touch that was so comforting, and making me feel seen and heard. I’m so glad that we made the decision to hire her and Beth! Also, recapping the day and talking about birth in general at her postpartum visit was a perfect closure. Thank you SG!!!
— Victoria
Sarah-Grace is an incredible doula and I had a wonderful experience working with her. Although she did not attend my birth (her partner, Beth, did) I felt very supported by her throughout my complicated pregnancy and birth. She is so knowledgeable and experienced, there is really nothing she hasn’t seen. She helped me create a birthing preference plan that suited my needs and wants. During my long, unplanned induction, she communicated with me throughout my hospital stay. She texted me pictures of laboring positions and helped me feel more in control during what could have been a scary time, but wasn’t because of her. And her advice postpartum, especially in regards to nursing, have made my 4th trimester so much easier.
— Hallie
I am so glad that Sarah-Grace was my doula for the home birth of my daughter! I really can’t recommend her enough. To start, she has an amazing resource collection on her website, full of book and birth class recommendations, her own instructional yoga videos on YouTube, and lists of supplies and other suggestions for the arrival of baby. Sarah-Grace, along with her doula-backup partner Beth, spent several hours meeting with my husband and I in our apartment, getting to know us in our space and asking super insightful questions to prepare us for the birth and postpartum. Nothing felt rushed or forced, and we very much felt like old friends with both of them after a short time.

While I felt prepared in all of the educational, informational ways of birth, I was immensely grateful that Sarah-Grace provided the emotional support and comfort that my husband and I both needed. She has a calm, reassuring presence, without being overbearing or intrusive in any way. She is super knowledgeable and educated, providing 24/7 support just a text away. When I was having trouble breastfeeding, she talked me through some things over FaceTime, and sent some helpful youtube videos. She followed up afterward, and was so supportive and encouraging.

I honestly loved my entire experience working with her before, during and after the birth - I’m sad that our journey together is closing! I only wish that all women had the opportunity to have such an amazing birth story, with wonderful doulas like Sarah-Grace (and Beth!)!
— Emily C.

Entrusting your pregnancy, birth and postpartum in Sarah-Grace’s hands will be one of those decisions that you keep being thankful for.

Finding a doula that would fit into your family dynamic and would have the gentle approach to provide comfort and a sense of agency is rare. From our experience, Sarah-Grace made us feel safe, cared for, empowered and informed.

During the pregnancy she made sure I knew all my options and was so helpful with providing valuable resources for us to educate ourselves. She was non-judgmental, intelligent, curious and very generous with her time to offer advice and to listen. Having someone that can help a couple foreigners navigate the complex avenues of the health system here, making sure I always have options every small & crucial decision during our hectic time in the hospital gave me so much confidence and strength.

I was planning to have a vaginal birth and ended up getting the full menu (induction, 22 hours of labor, c section)

Sarah Grace rocked me like a baby during the many hours of contractions and seemed to always have a new trick down her sleeve to help during those challenging times. She stayed with us after birth to make sure we have a good latch and that we came out of this experience ready to be parents.

We feel like she found her calling and we were lucky enough to have made the right choice to have her by our side.

We will always be grateful for her extraordinary generosity and true kindness.
— Vered S.
Sarah-Grace and Beth were a dynamic pair of doulas for the birth of our first child. We started with them around week 26, always responsive to my texts about random pregnancy questions and then the prenatal sessions were great. Speed up to the actual birth, going into labor I had almost no worries about the actual labor because I had so much trust in Sarah-Grace and Beth. My husband and I had little to no idea what we were were doing, we had just watched a series of birthing videos from our couch.

When the time came, Sarah-Grace came to our rescue. We were texting with her beginning at 2am, she arrived at our home at 10am and I gave birth around 9pm. I do believe she was the reason why I could handle an unmedicated birth and got me through the craziest thing I have ever done and never prepared for. She was inspiring but not pushy, she was devoted, focused, and calming. She was there with us every second that day and it really meant the world.

During postpartum, they were always available. I may have texted them too much about breastfeeding, it was so new, and I had so many questions (lesson for all FTM, take a class before giving birth because there is so much to learn!). They had all the resources, answered my panicky texts so quickly, came over and worked together in person and jumped on Facetime calls. One of the smartest decisions to have a doula and THE smartest decision to work with Sarah-Grace and Beth! Thank you both so much for your support and loving what you do. It really shines in every text response, Facetime call, and in person meeting.
— Nicole A.
We initially wanted a doula to advocate for us during labor. When our baby was breech and wouldn’t flip, we had to schedule a c section. Even given this, I would still recommend locking in Sarah-Grace!

Since she couldn’t be with us during delivery, she came to the hospital the next day to relieve my wife for a few hours so she could feed our cat and run errands. Sarah-Grace stayed with me and the baby, letting me sleep and soothing baby as needed. She also helped us with breastfeeding, which was amazing. She gave us some key product recommendations we wouldn’t have otherwise known to get pre-baby - for that alone, I’d hire her time and time again! Once we were home, she visited us again to help with latching, and our final session together will be baby’s first bath.

Sarah-Grace is extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, and sweet. She’s lovely to work with and be around, and she has been checking in with us regularly to see how we’re doing in the week post-birth. She answered all of our questions along the way, and having her as a resource was extremely comforting. I highly recommend Sarah-Grace!
— Nicole C.
Ever since our first interview with Sarah-Grace, my husband and I knew she was the right match for us. She had such a calm and easygoing demeanor and knew she would be exactly who I’m looking for to join our birth team! I’m so happy with our decision because she always listened with an open mind and respected all of our decisions. She never pushed an agenda on us but motivated everything that we wanted. I personally wanted to try for an unmedicated birth but as a FTM, I didn’t know exactly what I would get myself into. If it wasn’t for Sarah-Grace being there, I definitely would not have lasted as long at home with my labor. I was shocked that I made it through my entire labor and delivery with no pain meds at all! I attribute my positive birth experience to her and it makes me more excited to have another little one in the future (saying this at 10 weeks PP, too!). Oh and her prenatal/postpartum yoga is a major bonus too!! Without a doubt, I would definitely pick Sarah-Grace again for our doula and would never birth without a doula!
— Heather F.

It’s hard to imagine how we would’ve navigated pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood without the support and expertise of Sarah-Grace and Beth. They empowered us with the facts to make our own decisions, were accessible at all hours to answer questions and provide guidance, and took such a reassuring and comforting approach in their work that, despite the curveballs our daughter threw us in utero and the initial challenges of getting to know one another upon her arrival, we always felt like we would manage. One minute they’re sending you medical slides on the management of Postnatal Glucose Homeostasis, and then next they’re with you at home, pouring special chili crisp on vegetables they steamed for you while coaching you through latching. Sarah-Grace’s yoga sessions were invaluable throughout pregnancy, and Beth’s playlists became the family soundtrack (we like Vol. 3). Oh, and they’re funny, too. Words can’t describe how much we’ve valued their presence in our lives this past year!
— Rachel & Eric M.
Sarah-Grace is an absolute godsend. I can’t recommend her highly enough. My wife’s water broke at 2 AM and we both had that immediate feeling of uncertainty. At that moment we texted Sarah-Grace and we received a response in a matter of minutes.

She walked us through the entire early labor process and was at the hospital before we got into triage. She stayed with us through the whole labor and had some great advice for how to push. We used a practice that was against hospital policy, upon Sarah-Grace’s suggestion, that proved to be the most effective strategy and ultimatey was how our baby was delivered. The doctor even commented on the technique as something she hadn’t seen before but liked a lot.

After the birth we had a scary moment and Sarah-Grace did not leave the delivery room until she knew that everything was ok. As the father in the room, and being fully present not on the epidural, it was so nice to have someone else there to reassure me everything was going to be just fine and not to worry.

All that said, I haven’t even gotten into the prenatal yoga or the postpartum visit (she stayed for 3 hours). If you are looking for an advocate, and partner, hire her for her services. She is truly a blessing for any new parent.
— Aron K.
I am so grateful and proud to share my wonderful experience working with Sarah-Grace.

I went into this pregnancy (in the midst of a pandemic!) with a fair amount of anxiety, but SG helped me unpack a lot of that fear, tap into my primal instincts, and advocate for the physiolgical, unmedicated birth experience I wanted. I know it’s not for everyone or every circumstance, but for a few reasons it was something I really wanted to shoot for.

My labor and postpartum ended up being a little different than we originally planned (aren’t they always?), but we still hit so many of the points I was hoping for, which was incredible. I felt so prepared and confident, thanks to the emotional (and physical) stretching I did with SG in the months leading up to my baby’s birth.

One lesson I’ve learned over the past many months is that there isn’t one perfect way to do it. But I truly think anyone can have a positive, empowering birth experience with the right support. Which isn’t always, or only, an OB or hospital team!

There are really a million reasons why hiring Sarah-Grace to help shepherd us through pregnancy, birth and postpartum was the right choice for our family, but I think the best one is... we now consider her a wonderful friend!

Sarah-Grace was professional, disarming, knowledgeable, and so, so kind. Even months after my baby was born, she is always ready with advice, support and a kind word. I look forward to working with her again, for any future births!
— Lauren R.
Sarah-Grace was a wonderful presence throughout my pregancy, delivery, and postpartum period. She was knowledgeable, calm, lighthearted and really just exactly the kind of person/energy you want to surround yourself with while in labor. We can’t imagine what our labor/delivery experience would have been like without her. The virtual prenatal yoga she offered in the months leading up to my labor was an awesome bonus. Can’t recommend her highly enough!
— Jennifer K.
Working with Sarah-Grace was by far the best decision of our pregnancy and birth experience! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable, but she helped make the entire birth process as relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. She was always available to answer any questions we had, and listened to and respected our wishes for birth without any judgment.

An added perk is that she offers pre-natal yoga for all of her clients - a great way to stay connected during pregnancy and get to know her style! We will forever treasure our experience with her and would enthusiastically recommend her.
— Meredith R.
From the moment we met Beth and Sarah-Grace we knew they were the right fit for us. We were having our first baby in the middle of a pandemic and we knew we needed a special person/people to help us through. You know how they say, “when you know you know”? We just knew.

Beth and Sarah-Grace are not only incredible doulas, but amazing people. We cannot say enough about how much they helped us before, during, and after birth. Our meetings pre-birth helped us go into labor confidently and with all the tools we needed to make the decisions that were right for us. Beth was with us during labor and she helped us maneuver back labor like a pro. Her support helped this first time mama stay at home long enough to get to the hospital at 6cm and 90% effaced. She advocated for me and supported my decisions every step of the way. (I still look back on my birth and feel like a bad ass.) After birth, we had some unexpected trauma- Beth and Sarah-Grace were there to support and help with resources and encouraging words. I can confidently say, I’m not sure how/if we would’ve made it through without them. I feel forever grateful for each of them and the role they played in all three of our lives. They were there for the good, the bad, and the ugly. We truly count them as part of the family now.

If you’ve stayed around long enough to finish this review, I say without hesitation, you would be lucky to have Beth and Sarah-Grace on your team. Their calm and confident energy, and evidence based knowledge will help you prepare and conquer labor.
— Ashlea B.
Hiring Sarah-Grace was the single best thing I did for my pregnancy and delivery. I am so happy I found her and feel like it was fate that she came into my family’s life. I was drawn to her relaxed style and focus on physical movement and empowerment during labor. I interviewed several doulas and SG came across as the most knowledgeable, intuitive and supportive.

We had several in-person meetings to go over labor comfort measures, create a birth plan and discuss logistics, but I also got to know her through weekly prenatal yoga classes that she offers free of charge to her clients. I was not a yoga person before this, but I LOVED her flows and teaching style. It made such a difference during the last few months of my pregnancy and made me feel so strong going into my labor. Though the real testament to her skill came during my labor and delivery. SG did not hesitate to come to my house when labor started, support my husband and I throughout the entire process and help me achieve what I wanted for my labor. Somehow I was able to give birth to my almost 10 lb. son without medication and that is thanks to the incredible support she provided me with steadily for 15 hours. Her level of skill, care and compassion are unparalleled all while being a very funny and interesting person that puts you at ease. I can’t recommend her highly enough.
— Jessie M.
Wow! What an amazing experience I had with Sarah-Grace. Her energy is so calming and confident. I went into my birth looking for someone who could support me and balance out my high energy. She was very professional and timely and someone now that I can call part of our family. She helped me feel totally at ease the entire time. Before the birth she came over and we discussed different coping techniques, stretches, breathing exercises, established a birth plan, and much more. I truly couldn’t have done it without her. I got the birth I wanted and I attribute much of it to Sarah-Grace. Thank you thank you! I can’t wait for the next one :)
— Ella H.
We had a wonderful first birth experience thanks to Sarah-Grace. In preparation for birth, Sarah-Grace conducted several in-depth sessions with us to go over everything related to the last stretch of pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery, and we felt as prepared as possible.

Our son arrived in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and during a citywide lockdown curfew in NYC, so it was a small miracle when she was able to pick us up in a taxi to take us to the hospital. My labor progressed very quickly and Sarah-Grace’s presence was calming and reassuring throughout, especially compared to the tense environment at the hospital. The nurses were largely absent and/or unhelpful during the five hours of labor in the hospital up until delivery, and the doctor only checked in twice very briefly before I gave birth. As a result, my memory of the birth experience centers on my partner and Sarah-Grace providing the emotional support and presence needed for me to deliver our baby.

Sarah-Grace had many physical techniques and other tools to provide relief prepared to assist with labor, but allowed me to guide the experience in the moment as to what was most helpful, which was primarily talking me through the contractions and guiding my breathing. She also encouraged me to stay in the position I was comfortable in during labor, rather than bowing to the nurses’ pressure to lie down in the bed. We didn’t call the delivery team back to the room until the last minute when the baby’s head was already partially emerged, and honestly, we could have done it on our own. I was so grateful for Sarah-Grace’s calm, confidence and compassion through the whole experience, and couldn’t imagine going through it without her. My partner and I will both wholeheartedly recommend Sarah-Grace to all of our friends who are expecting!
— Lily L.
When I was interviewing doulas for my birth what stood out about Sarah-Grace was her approachability and confidence and I could tell immediately that her personality would match well with my partner and I. I knew I wanted someone who would advocate for us and educate us about what was happening in each situation which she did effortlessly and I felt like I had my sister or best friend with me. I knew I could trust her from our interview but really as I got to know her throughout my pregnancy I became more impressed with her approach to her clients. I felt seen and heard and she was very interested in the experience I wanted to have and how she could support us in getting that experience. She is very empathetic and not an ounce of judgement.

Sarah-Grace supported me in a way when I was in labor that I was able to stay focused and present in the moment and with her support I felt strong and fearless. She breathed through every contraction with me. She helped my partner feel like an active participant in my birth and in the end, I really feel like I have a new lifelong friend who I will share updates of my daughter’s life.

To say the least, you will be very lucky to have her support, care and love in your pregnancy and birth.
— Caitlin M.
My experience with Sarah-Grace is a testament to the myriad ways that she supports a birthing person, in addition to “just” labor support. My husband and I will be forever grateful to her for guiding us through the birth of our first child. From the moment we started working together, SG helped me feel confident and empowered. Through each phase of pregnancy and birth prep, she responded to my questions with helpful resources for me to investigate. But more than that, she gave generously of her time to offer advice, and emotional support! I loved thinking through all my birth preferences together with her. She just got it. To our surprise, my baby was breech. This threw us for a huge loop, but Sarah-Grace didn’t miss a beat. She helped us navigate it by offering information and empathy. Even though she couldn’t attend our Cesarean birth after all, I felt so cared for and supported in the weeks and months before and after birthing Violet. From amazing yoga instruction, to gentle cesarean education, lactation and pumping support, pelvic floor health, scar recovery, gentle movement after birth, … she was there every step of the way. I never felt alone as I navigated the sometimes-confusing, surprising world of pre- and postpartum. I never knew just how many ways that she would help us. Hiring SG was the best thing I did to feel prepared, confident, seem, empowered and cared for in my pregnancy and birth! Thank you, Sarah-Grace!!!
— Mackenzie S.
We absolutely loved working with Sarah-Grace and Beth and would highly recommend them. They are the kindest, most empathetic people who really go above and beyond to support the needs and wishes of their clients. Throughout the whole process they were always available quickly by email and phone for any questions we had.
We were lucky to find them early on in our pregnancy which meant we really got to know them and take advantage of the prenatal yoga classes and extra early preparation suggestions, such as reading materials and supplementary online courses.

One of the best suggestions they had was to consider switching to a new doctor and hospital that was more suited to our preferences and location. We are so glad we took their advice, as we were very satisfied with delivering at Brooklyn Methodist with Dr. Veca.

Sarah-Grace ended up attending the birth starting at our house and going with us to the hospital. We couldn’t have gotten through 22.5 hours of labor without her amazing coaching through the contractions, suggestions for different positions and overall knowledgeable insights about the hospital process and medical choices along the way.

We had postnatal visits from each of them where they helped us with everything from breastfeeding to how to wear our baby in a wrap. They even brought little gifts, which were the kind of extra touches that really make them standout. We can’t say enough about our incredible experience with Sarah-Grace and Beth!
— Sanya D.
Sarah-Grace was an incredible support in my birth experience. She is deeply knowledgeable about pregnancy, birth, newborn care, and mental health issues for new moms. I was very worried about the process of birth and hospitalization. She made me feel heard and worked with me to make a birth plan that was responsive to all my concerns, particularly on the issues of evidence based medicine and reducing unnecessary intervention. During the birth, she was so encouraging and knew exactly what I needed to hear, even when I didn’t know. After the birth, Sarah-Grace answered my questions about self care and we participated in her online class on newborn play - which was so fun, particularly during the pandemic. She has been a font of knowledge and a wonderful guide. I feel so thankful to know her and highly recommend her to anyone.
— Marie H.
We cannot recommend Sarah-Grace enough for your journey into parenthood. From the moment we met we felt at ease and eager to work with her. She provided us with invaluable resources to help prepare us for the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period. Having a constant, steady advocate and guide during this new and challenging period was important to us and proved to be a major asset.

Our hope was to have a vaginal delivery and were undecided on pain management methods (meds vs no meds & other strategies) we felt supported whichever way it went.

Our baby was breech at 37 weeks and we were faced with the strong possibility of a cesarean birth, and with Sarah Grace’s help and guidance we elected to have an ECV (doctor manually flips baby). The ECV was successful and we delivered (vaginally) a healthy baby girl.

During the delivery, Sarah Grace was a constant and steady presence who worked seamlessly with the hospital staff and helped us navigate the “game-day” challenges and curveballs (like getting induced after a routine checkup). She also brought with her knowledge on maximizing our comfort and peace of mind. She coached us through positional changes and pain management strategies to help at each stage of labor. In the final push, Sarah Grace cheered us on and helped document the most unforgettable moments. She assisted with the first latch and did not leave our side until we were all settled into the postpartum unit.

We sincerely mean it when we say, we largely attribute the success of our labor to Sarah Grace.

Postpartum, she stayed in touch with frequent messages and came to our home for a visit. She answered questions about breastfeeding, baby wearing and all other random postpartum baby questions we had.

If you made it to the end of this long testimonial then I am gonna say it again, we can’t recommend Sarah Grace more for your journey into parenthood!

I was so impressed by Sarah-Grace. She knew exactly what to do to help me during the labor. Sarah-Grace gave me so much strength! I had such an amazing experience! I highly recommended her services.

Sarah-Grace and Beth were THE BEST. They made us feel so comfortable from the minute we met. They have a very warm, relaxed confidence in them that makes any mama-to-be feel at ease in their care. My husband and I learned so much from our interactions and the information they provided. We felt cared for and well prepared in ways we wouldn’t have had we not worked with them. If I could do my first birth all over again I would choose them ten times over. Birth is such a life changing event- these two were crucial members of our team!

Sarah-Grace and Beth are a gem of a team. I don’t know how I would have gotten through pregnancy/labor/postpartum without this experienced, professional, and level-headed team of women. We hired them a week after COVID was officially designated as a pandemic and they didn’t blink an eye in adapting to the new challenges it brought. We had relaxed virtual meetings with them where they answered our questions and presented helpful, organized information regarding all aspects of pregnancy and birth. They both started offering virtual classes for their moms-to-be including a prenatal yoga class I took with Sarah-Grace (which helped me feel like a superhero in labor). All the resources they were able to connect me with were a godsend, because I would have never found them otherwise. They were always quick to respond to all my questions. Beth attended my labor and could help me through it in ways that my husband couldn’t. Both of them did postpartum visits and helped me breastfeed, process my labor experience, tie my wrap carrier and learn how to massage my baby. They both brought over delicious, homemade food and a little goodie bag. My husband and I were even able to leave for a few hours on a lunch date while Beth took care of our baby. Sarah-Grace gave me a much needed massage while she wore my napping baby! They genuinely cared about supporting me (and my husband) and I felt completely comfortable with them. They were everything I wanted from a doula and more!

I had a great VBAC with Sara during the covid pandemic this past April. I decided to bring her to the hospital instead of my husband who stayed home with my older son. We went to the hospital together for my induction which was very reassuring to me because I was really scared to go without my husband. Sara never left my side until my son was born and was a great support throughout the whole process. She talked to the doctor and staff when I couldn’t, she suggested great positions during contractions and provided useful props when I needed them. Sara was great before during and postpartum. She helped me a lot a few days postpartum when I experienced a lot of pain while breastfeeding. Thank you Sara!!!

Our experience with Beth & Sarah-Grace was amazing. We signed up late because COVID made it unclear if we would be allowed to have a Doula with us during the birth. When we did we were two months away from the due date and felt very unprepared. Beth & Sarah-Grace provided us with virtual training and meetings to make us feel comfortable with the process and to arm us with the knowledge necessary to feel empowered in the experience. It was the perfect antidote to our doctor who didn’t tell us anything about what to expect.

When I learned that they would have to induce me a month early I was panicked. Because of COVID my husband wasn’t allowed to attend any of the visits where I learned this, which made it worse. Because the hospital was not great at communicating, we went from thinking we had 3 days before the induction to learning it would be in less than 24 hours. Beth & Sarah-Grace were incredibly comforting and helped me get prepared.

Sarah-Grace attended the birth and was a calming and soothing presence who made what could have been a traumatic experience, something amazing. She guided me through my contractions, helped me manage my pain, and was by my side while in active labor to help me breathe and push.

As the partner, I think I got as much help out of it (if not more!) than my wife. It’s very scary to see someone you love in a hospital dealing with new experiences, including sometimes painful ones. Having Sarah-Grace there to help inform me what was going on, and what was normal, felt heaven sent. It’s really difficult to be both an emotional partner and a healthcare advocate, and with her there, I was able to manage it without myself ending up panicked.

You will not regret choosing them as your doulas, and choosing them to support our pregnancy was the best decision that we made during our pregnancy.

Bottom line: We could not have a better support! Sarah-Grace was amazing, caring, responsive and so dedicated! I’m certain that without Sarah-Grace’s support I would not have such a great labor experience, even though my son’s birth was long and exhausting.

I hired Sarah-Grace after attending yoga classes that she facilitated. On top of being a doula she is a wonderful and highly engaged yoga teacher. But having a doula was not so obvious for me at the beginning of my pregnancy. Slowly but surely talking about birth experience with friends, family and experts I realized how much we as a family and I personally could benefit from it.

Sarah-Grace was there with me all the time, did not rest for a second. For more than 12h she was taking care of me, helping me to go through all that was happening with mental and physical support. She was a sort of guardian of my Birth Plan we established together, in a nice and caring way tried to encourage me to own my birth experience, in a way I envisioned it.

Sarah-Grace deserves acknowledgement for not only her warmth and knowledge but also for her open minded attitude towards all types of birth plans ranging from home birth to those with more traditional ones in hospitals. She just simply is focusing on you and your needs, adjusting her job into how the family wants that experience to be.

She was warm and thoroughly professional the entire time. I simply cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Sarah-Grace in my son’s birth and would recommend her to anyone for their birth experience.

Choosing to work with Sarah-Grace was one of the best decisions I made for my birth. Sarah-Grace was an absolutely remarkable doula I would strongly recommend working with her, regardless of your birth plan. She is knowledgeable and shared helpful resources throughout our time together. She is very patient, warm and brings a calming presence. During our prenatal visits, and postnatal visit, Sarah-Grace was generous with her time, making sure to thoroughly learn about us and understand our desired birth experience. Her prenatal yoga classes were wonderful, well planned flows. She was able to be engaging and present even through Zoom!

She was extremely present for my entire, very long labor, making suggestions while enabling my desired birth plan. I do not think I could have done some of the most challenging portions without her. I felt that I could fully trust her.

My husband adds, Sarah-Grace was an incredible partner during the journey to meet our son. She was thoughtful, caring, patient, and considerate. She was crucial in supporting us and seamlessly melded into every part of the birth experience, allowing us to feel empowered, heard, and supported. As the partner, Sarah-Grace helped me support my wife even when I felt overwhelmed and unsure of how I could help.

We are forever grateful for Sarah-Grace!
— Ilana & Josh
Sarah-Grace was a wonderful support for us over the past few months. Having your first child can be an intimidating experience, and in addition neither of us is originally from the U.S. so the whole process seemed extra overwhelming.

Sarah-Grace provided the most incredible range of resources and was always a calm voice amid all the chaos. Throughout the birth itself she had so many tricks up her sleeve for natural pain relief... including various yoga moves and suggesting getting into the shower at a key point, which was a total game-changer! We couldn’t be more grateful for her involvement in our pregnancy and the birth of our son and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!
— Steph & Erwin
Sarah-Grace has been absolutely wonderful - from prenatal yoga classes to being a birth doula and postpartum support. She always has such a positive energy and a pleasant demeanor. She is very patient, caring, professional and a pleasure to work with.
