BeHeld New Parents Group

Beheld is transitioning to new facilitator-ship while I finish out midwifery school! Stay tuned for updates.

Join Christine Gibson & Sarah-Grace Sweeney, facilitators who've supported hundreds of families through their births & postpartum journeys as we create space for juicy conversations and community building during your postpartum time. We are doulas, lactation counselors…plus one of us is a student-midwife (SG) and Christine is a mom (twice over!).

This 6-week virtual support group meets once a week in the mornings. Each week is (very loosely) themed so we have a jumping off point for our conversations. We talk about lactation & feeding, baby developmental milestones, sleep woes, postpartum recovery & being at home in your body again, finding childcare, navigating new relationship dynamics with partners and family, and birth stories. Generally speaking, group is geared for parents 0-4 months postpartum, but we aren’t strict about it either.

We’ve set a suggested donation of $150 for all six weeks, but you are free to pay any amount that’s comfortable and doable for you. We won’t turn anyone away based on ability to pay. You can find discount codes below, along with the links to pay for your chosen session.

Weekly Topics:
Week 1:
Birth Story Sharing/Processing
Week 2: Feeding, Sleep, & Baby Development
Week 3: Postpartum Body Image & Wellness
Week 4: Postpartum Intimacy
Week 5: Friendship & Family Dynamics
Week 6: Beyond the 4th Trimester (work, childcare, you name it)

What folks are saying!

It was such a relief, a joy, and an honor to spend time with supportive and knowledgeable doulas and other new parents every week. I felt validated in my fears and stresses of new parenthood and I felt lifted up by others in the same boat. My postpartum experience has been more challenging than I imagined but it has felt manageable because of this group. To anyone who is pregnant or trying to conceive, my advice is: work with a doula and join a postpartum group.

Without even realizing it, this group was everything I needed, and more, while navigating postpartum life! It is so easy to get swept up when you welcome a new baby into your world. It is easy to ignore the outside and exist in your bubble. I could have convinced myself I was “fine” and even happy on my own, but without pause, every single time I met with this incredible group of people, I found myself breathing deeper and saying to myself “this is where I need to be.

I was doing well postpartum, so I didn’t really think I needed a “support group” but I signed up anyway...and I’m SO glad I did. This group was such a rich place to meet other people in the same stage of life, to really dig in & explore how I was feeling and how I was doing, to learn more about myself and my new family. I’m grateful for this space for reflection. It made me sit down and take some time for myself every single week—something I wouldn’t have done reliably otherwise. And the doulas guiding us are SUCH wonderful, compassionate, generous hearts. If you’re on the fence, JOIN THIS GROUP!

I had the most wonderful time with this group. I felt heard and held in my most vulnerable moments and it felt so crucial to be surrounded by people who are going through similar stages in life. The doulas were incredible, full of resources and love. I couldn’t recommend this more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am so grateful to have participated in the postpartum group. My baby was only a week old when I joined and during a time I wasn’t having much interaction with anyone besides my partner it allowed me to connect with others and hear from folks who were further along in the journey than me. It felt really nourishing to sit with my babe in arms and talk about my current experience.

This group made such a huge difference in my postpartum journey! It was so wonderful to talk to other people going through a similar life stage, moderated by doulas and birth experts who were able to give us advice based on all difference experiences they’ve witnessed. I only wished I had done it sooner!

I am so grateful I joined this group! All of the doulas are so knowledgeable and supportive. We got plenty of resources and feedback on our challenges. But we also got plenty of reassurance- from each other as well- that we’re not alone, that we’re doing a great job, even when there is no perfect solution. It was so helpful to connect around our shared experiences and learn from each other. And I now have a solid support group to turn to moving forward. I highly, highly recommend this group!

As cliche as it sounds, this group was so helpful in knowing I am was not alone on my fourth trimester journey into motherhood! I learned a lot from hearing what others were dealing with, and the ideas they were trying for their babies and for themselves, from sleep ideas to pelvic floor health. The doulas facilitated with care and expertise that made the time feel structured but with plenty of time to talk. So grateful for this community!
